We’re the Russell-Smiths – a family of four who believe the world is the greatest classroom. From trekking to the base camps of the world’s highest mountains and diving coral reefs, to exploring hidden corners of the UK, we travel to connect with people, cultures and wild places. Through our family adventures, we share honest family travel stories, practical tips and inspiration to show that extraordinary journeys are possible for ordinary families.

If you’ve followed our family adventures for a while, you know the Russell-Smiths don’t do things the easy way. This summer, we are deep in the logistics of our upcoming expedition to Peru. We are staring down the barrel of a brutal 9-day multi-day hike (+mor) featuring ten separate passes some over 5,000+ metres, alongside a few shorter high-altitude warm-up treks.

BIT OF A TEST POST... but its a fun post too - this is one of those travel moments... when you have done everything right but the travel gods don't agree and you are stuck at 2am at Istanbul airport! It got worse - when we arrived at the hotel gave away our hotel rooms so we had to find new rooms also... the dangers of independent travel.
